Real Weddings: Courtni & Shane’s Sparkling Sweet Michigan Wedding

by jaime on June 6, 2012

From the Bride: Shane and I got married 2 days after my 30th birthday and a couple days before his 31st birthday! It was our special treat to one another to get married around our birthdays. We got married on March 31st, 2012 at 6:00pm and we each wrote our own special vows (Shane’s put the crowd to tears!) 😉 Our theme was “I love you to the moon!”

The ceremony was held at Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston, MI (where I grew up and I used to work as a younger girl 16-18 years old.) The reception was held at the Pine Knob Carriage House in Clarkston, Michigan. I made all of our handmade invitations, menus and programs! I own Charm, a custom invitation and design company.

We had white roses on all of the 200 ceremony chairs in honor of my Grandpa, Sherman Hansen (who was very special and ironically his favorite movie was “SHANE” an old western!), and to symbolize purity, marriage and honor! Two young girls played piano and violin for our ceremony and a bag piper performed at the entrance of our ceremony since Shane is Irish.

Our Aunt, Jennifer Kirschner, married us with a very personal, sweet and magical ceremony! My dress was all lace and made by Robert Bullock from Bridal Couture in Birmingham, MI. My shoes were covered in gems! All the bridesmaids (and myself) each had a different brooch in their flowers, (my mom and I went antiquing for them) and sparkling earrings and bracelets. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with champagne colored ties and Shane wore a ranunculus flower (one of my favs.)

My Mom was my Matron of Honor and my Maid of Honor was Beth Armstrong (who has been my friend since 6th grade). My dad walked me down the isle and did a special freestyle dance with me at the reception!

Our flowers were all white- tulips, hydrangeas, garden roses, ranunculus, dusty miller and roses.

We did not have a cake at the wedding, we had cookies, brownies and ice cream (our favorite dessert), moon pops (chocolate covered Oreos) and Cold Stone Creamery. All the table names were named after ice cream flavors and we had moon shaped place cards and table name cards.

We took our honeymoon to Bora Bora which was simply magical-we swam with sharks, stingrays and they surprised us with a private ISLAND estate where Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman honeymooned! No kidding – it was like winning the honeymoon lottery!

How can we not be envious of such a beautiful wedding… and a fantastic honeymoon? Thank you so much for sharing, Courtni!
