Music for the Wedding: Songs for Cutting the Cake

by jaime on June 13, 2012

Can you believe how many different songs you need for a wedding? Neither can I – but we’re here to help! Here’s a list of songs for when you cut the cake, ranging from the ones you expect (with a few puns included, of course!) and a few you probably haven’t heard before!

James Taylor – How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)

Sure, it’s a little cheesy. But James Taylor makes this song so much more amazing than something that’s just a play on words (sweet, cake… get it? Of course you do!) – and it fits the situation perfectly.

Cake – Love You Madly

Let’s be honest – we needed a Cake song on this list. It’s kind of a given!

Adam Sandler (from The Wedding Singer) – Grow Old With You

We had a handful of people tell us that this was their first dance song, which I think is so cute! For the rest of us, this is a fun, cheerful little romantic song that’s great for the cake cutting ceremony!

And for the ridiculous (and pun-filled) choice…. Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar on Me

Josh Abbott Band feat. Kacey Musgrave – Oh, Tonight

Okay, ignoring the fact that this video is entirely about adultery (too bad…), this song is fantastic! It would be perfect for a first dance, too.

Radney Foster feat. Abra Moore – I’m In

This song was covered by Keith Urban, but I vastly prefer this version. It’s so pretty and romantic.

What song did you play when you cut the cake – or what songs do you want to play at your wedding?
