Brides on a Budget: Affordable Dresses under $1000

by jaime on July 5, 2012

Not everyone has a huge budget available to them for their wedding. For example, Cam and I are trying to keep our wedding cost at or around $10,000… and it can be done! One of the hardest places to eliminate cost for the bride is in the dress shopping process. I shared some tips on where to buy your wedding dress, but now I wanted to pick some of my current favorite styles available out there within an affordable range.

Short Dresses:

L to R: Theia Short Vanilla Dress ($550), Sue Wong Embellished Chiffon and Mesh Dress ($418), Jill Stuart Bow Detail Dress ($248), Phoebe Couture by Kay Unger Lace Dress ($330)

Long Dresses:

L to R: Ceremony by Joanna August Amanda Gown ($850), Liz Fields One-Shoulder Gown ($238), J. Crew Corrina Gown ($495), Nicole Miller Satin Halter Gown ($730)

Unorthodox Dresses and Dresses with Color:

L to R: Tadashi Shoji Sequin Ruched Mesh Gown ($448), Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon One-Shoulder Ruched Tulle Gown ($770), Badgley Mischka Sheer Shoulder Gown ($890), Nicole Miller Print Wrapped Bodice Gown ($396)

Tell me – which dress is your favorite? Would you wear any (or all!) of these styles?

So, I was surprised to not find myself looking at ANY dresses over $1000, even when I went to the fancy bridal salons. I ended up getting a perfect dress that even with alterations will be less than $1000. Alfred Angelo has great collections, great sales and great prices. I love my dress and because I started with a simple dress, I am able to use a portion of my budget to make it mine. Think about going for simpler on the dress and then – personalize your dress with accessories.
