If you’re anything like me, you bought your dress super early (and were relieved to be done with THAT stressful mission). Now we get to play with the really fun stuff: accessories! While I’m hunting for my own perfect pieces, here are a few tried-and-true tips on picking the perfect jewelry, hair accessories and handbags to polish off your outfit. And stay tuned for my tips on what to wear underneath that gorgeous dress!
Jewels and Gems: Each bride (and bridesmaid) has her own style when it comes to jewelry. For me, I like one big statement item, like these Nadri Tiered Chandelier Earrings or the Kate Spade Crystal Chapel Collar Necklace. But if your dress is already doing most of the work for you, consider scaling it back with something subtle and simple, like pearl stud earrings (I love Givenchy’s Kalahari Studs – they might not be real pearls, but they’re very affordable at only $28!) or a beautiful pendant necklace (something like this Reversible Necklace from Judith Jack, for instance!).
Be a Better Bride: If you want your bridesmaids to have matching looks INCLUDING jewelry, you need to do one of two things: either give them fair warning (at least two months, ladies!) or you can include the jewelry you’d like them to wear as a part of your gifts to them. Don’t set them up for failure! Happy bridesmaids make for a happy bride.
Haute Hair Accessories: Some of my favorites have a bit of flash to them, like Tasha Swirly Pearly Hair Pins and Nina Gwenyth Crystal Hair Pins. But there are also great styles for the bride who prefers her hair to have less sparkle and more substance, like the Nina Maize Birdcage Veil. For the more traditional bride, I love the longer Nina Veils – especially the Elise Satin Trim Veil and the Kate Veil.
Be a Better Bride: Prepare for your big day and make sure to bring anything and everything you want to try in your hair when you head to the salon for your hairstyle run-through. You’ll get a better idea of what works best and how you’ll look on the day of the wedding.
The Cutest Clutches: You really have some great options when it comes to the world of handbags, but here are a few easy to follow tips that I think will help narrow the search! Make sure to avoid anything large – you really don’t need more than a clutch. And don’t worry if it doesn’t match your dress, since you probably won’t be spending much time carrying it; find a good friend (or designate a bridesmaid!) who will haul it for you. But definitely have some fun with your pick and go wild – try some sparkle (like the Reese Clutch from Jimmy Choo), go girly with a big bow (the Glint Bow Clutch is awesome in both red and champagne!) or even mix it up with unique textiles like feathers or beading (my recommendations? Sondra Roberts’ Beaded Bulls-eye Clutch and the Belle Elliana Feather Clutch from Kate Spade).
