7 great country wedding songs for your first dance

by jaime on September 11, 2012

I’ve definitely done a TON of posts on wedding music (click to check them all out!) and this one was long overdue: all country music! Some of the most romantic songs out there are country songs, and these seven stand out as some of the absolute best.

Blake Shelton – God Gave Me You

Rascal Flatts – Here (among many others!)

Tim McGraw – My Best Friend

Collin Raye – In This Life

Randy Travis – Forever and Ever Amen

Alabama – There’s No Way

John Michael Montgomery – I Love the Way You Love Me

There are so many other amazing options in country music – which songs are your favorites?

Love,
Jaime

I do too, Cheyenne! I wonder if the pace of the song (or the theme) would work for a first dance, though…

Thanks for commenting! :)

Mine also. Lol. Definitely a guy thing Lol

anonymous March 1, 2013 at 7:58 am

You really want the song that you dance to to be about a guy who’s an ass, knows he’s an ass, puts everything/ everyone before his girl, knows he doesn’t deserve her and even says if he was her he’d leave him? I’m sorry but that’s just sad.

I 100% agree… I love the song and love Lee but I would never play it at my wedding. It describes my ex very very well but that’s why he is my ex.

My wedding was completely country love songs. We had “Johnny and June” “You’ll Always be Loved by Me” “Love is a Beautiful Thing” “From this Moment On” “Bring it On Home” “I Swear” “Just to Hear you Say that you Love Me” “A Little More You” “Love of My Life” “Just Got Started Loving You”

In our ceremony: “Keeper of the Stars” “I Volunteer” “Say Yes” and we had someone sing “Lost in this Moment”
I walked down the aisle to “I Cross my Heart” and we walked out to “Good to be Us”
Our first dance was “Bless the Broken Road”. I danced with my dad to “Stealing Cinderella”. My husband danced with my MIL to “My Wish” and we had a special dance for my grandparents (now married 62 yrs) to “Waitin on a Woman”.

As well as dozens of others I can’t remember

Does anyone have any good ideas to use as an entrance song to play when the bridal party is entering into the reception area? It doesn’t have to be a country song if there is something cool you wanted to share as well. Thanks :-)

Reply

Sharlee@believinginsomething January 31, 2013 at 10:49 pm

I know some of these have already been spoken for but I have a few things to add:
I went to a wedding where the first dance was “To Make You Feel My Love” the couple cried while they danced and it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced. I still think about them every time I hear that song.

We danced to “Love Your Love the Most” as our 2nd wedding song. (Yes we had two)
We had originally planned to have Brad Paisley’s “Then” as our anniversary dance song, but I opted instead for “It Did” by Blaine Larsen. Seriously so good!

And as a Randy Travis fan I have to also suggest “Look Heart, No Hands.”

Michael "Rey" February 24, 2013 at 8:16 am

I Think the best Country Wedding song you’ll never hear, is a song called “Frame by Frame” written by Michael “Rey” and sang by: Tim Cooper. It plays only on a radio station called Countryradio.com owned by a man named Jeff Best.
The song is about the Father and Daughter perspective of the marriage. It’s very descriptive and very well rounded. It pulls you into the Father’s coping of losing his daughter to marriage. It’s not a sad song. Rather, a song of inspiration. You may never have heard it until now. Frame by Frame can be heard on Youtube as a teaser, or listened to in full length on Countryradio.com. Or purchased as a single from the information provided on the Youtube teaser.
The above songs are sure to become classics. However, Frame by Frame will never die as long as boy’s and girl’s are being born, brought up, and growing to adulthood. Thus, Father’s and daughters. Frame by Frame the perfect wedding song in my opinion. The Father Daughter dance is next.

We’re getting married in November 2013….I’m working on building our playlist now. I’m so glad I stumbled across this site!!
Our first dance is actually going to be 2 songs….because I can’t pick just one!! “I Cross My Heart” (George Strait) & “Keeper of the Stars” (Tracy Byrd). Our final dance will be “Cowboys & Angels” (Dustin Lynch) & “Cowboy Take Me Away” (Dixie Chicks). He’s my cowboy & he calls me his guardian angel. We met during a very dark time in his life, became best friends & love grew from there.
My problem is, I can’t figure out what song I want to use for the cake cutting/feeding (yes, we’re doing the traditional smash it in each others’ faces!) & the garter toss. I’m thinking “This One’s For The Girls” (Martina McBride) for the bouquet toss.

My father daughter dance will be “Butterfly Kisses” it fits so well for me and my dad. We are still debating first dance for me and my husband-to-be. I love the idea of playing a country song to walk down the isle to. Thanks ladies.

How does your Daddy see you on your “Wedding Day?” Listen here: http://www.reverbnation.com/michaelreyrey/song/17221516-frame-by-daddydaughter- to what a Daddy like yours had to say on his Beautiful Daughters Wedding day. On this artists page, there is a link to the Best Country Father Daughter Wedding Dance music video I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. The artist is me, I pray I don’t sound pompous or arrogant. I simply want to share with you all. Congratulations to all the brides.

Scotty McCreery’s “I Love You This Big” is PERFECT for the first dance, and Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl” is good for the Father/Daughter dance.
