Top Five Bridesmaids Dress Ideas for 2013

by jaime on February 20, 2013

Picking the dress is hard. But picking a dress for the bridal party? Sometimes, that’s even harder. Here are five amazingly hot and stylish trends for bridesmaids in 2013, along with some recommendations of where to buy each!

1. Mix-and-match dresses – this is great for your Anthropologie girlfriends! Girls who want to be unique but still work in your color scheme will fall for this idea. Whether you do go for Anthro styles (like this adorable Caridad Ruffle Dress) or a simpler jersey style (like this jersey dress on sale for $7 from Old Navy), you’ll be able to add your own personal style to your bridesmaid look.

2. Color themes – when you can get all of your bridal party to agree on a color – but not a style! – then the color theme is for you. If you can select a designer/store that will offer multiple fits in the same fabric, you’re good to go. Just let your bridesmaids choose what they want to wear!

3. Infinity Dresses – I’m so into infinity dresses (or convertible dresses, depending on who you ask), that I’ve chosen this style for my bridesmaids! You can get these custom made for you on etsy (which is how we’re doing them from Micah at Made Studio), choose your color swatches and get a dress that’s just right for your maids.

4.Full-length gowns – while the photo above shows a bunch of different style gowns (in a gorgeous brown/taupe tone!), you don’t need to go that far. But for weddings in Spring/Fall or colder climates, you can keep your girls feeling warm and looking hot in a maxi dress. Some I recommend? The Monique Lhuillier ruched chiffon dress, this halter maxi from Victoria’s Secret and the Carmen Marc Valvo coral grecian gown.

5. Simple dresses with bright accessories – start with a basic palette (like this Donna Morgan black maxi) and add bright jewelry, fun shoes, quirky accessories (like the gloves above) and more! With a simple dress, each bridesmaid can select their own personal touches.

What trends will you be trying out for your bridesmaids?

Love,
Jaime

I am also doing the infinity dresses for my girls. We don’t exactly have a color or set of colors, so I told the girls to pick a color that they liked, as long as it was a jewel tone. We have royal blue, purple, jade, and fuschia. Silver is the color that will tie everything together. I can’t wait to see everyone all done up and put together at my June wedding!

Are they all going to wear silver shoes/jewelry to tie it together?

And I hope you’ll share the photos with us once you’ve had your day! Good luck. :)
