1. How did you start JLB Papery Invitations?

I actually started JLB Papery when I was in college. I began doing small orders for family and friends, but once I realized my true passion for it, and the response I was getting for my work, I decided to dedicate all my time to designing custom invitations. I’ve also expanded into creating place cards, menus, ceremony programs, table numbers, thank you cards and more! In addition, I sell handmade greeting cards for all holidays and occasions!

 2. Where does your inspiration come from?

I am constantly inspired by everything I see.  Every color, texture and image I encounter throughout my day, I try to incorporate into my work.

3. What advice would you give brides (and grooms) to-be who want custom invitations?

The first piece of advice I give when having a consultation with a client is to think about what they visualize for their ideal wedding. I then take the key elements they describe, along with their color scheme and theme if any, and incorporate that into their free sample. I encourage them to include their favorite aspects of their big day to make sure it is reflected in the design, since the invitation is the first glance their guests get into their wedding.

I also remind them to use the correct postage, one of the most common mistakes when sending out invitations is not having the proper postage.

 4. Do you have a favorite invitation that you’ve done? (and if so, which?)

Each current project becomes my new favorite. I enjoy getting to know my clients, and creating the perfect invitation they are visualizing. It is very rewarding to be the person who brings their designs to life!

5. What trends/styles are hot for 2013/2014 wedding invitations?

The nautical theme is very popular recently. I’ve also noticed that many couples want a matching band around the invitation to complete the package. It really adds a polished look to it!

6. Where can we find more about you and your work?
